Day tour_Jeju Cruise Terminal_Route B
The Port of Jeju Route B, which starts from the Port of Jeju is designed to allow you to encounter and experience Jeju's long history and culture, from the legendary birth of the island to its modern incarnation. We recommend this tour route: ‘The Jejumok Gwana Government Office’, this preserves the site of what was the administrative center of Jeju Island during the Joseon Dynasty, ‘Samseonghyeol’, the historical site of Jeju’s founding myth, and ‘the National Jeju Museum’, where you can see and experience Jeju’s history and cultural heritage. We also recommend you visit ‘the Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market’ and ‘the Kim Man-deok Gaekju Commissioning Agency Site’ where you can get a glimpse into the lives of Jeju’s people along with local food.
Top 10 Jeju Sites for February (Feel Your Heart Pounding with the Impending Spring)
People don’t want to dwell on winter. Instead, they want to welcome spring as soon as possible. In that sense, many people's minds go to Jeju Island. When soft southerly breezes whisper and awaken the fields and seas, head to Jeju for the splendor of spring and feel your heart pound with anticipation.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
Jeju, loved and known the world over as an island of natural beauty, is a volcanic landform created by an eruption. It not only has great scenery, but also great geological significance. It has over 360 oreums (parasitic cones) and 160 lava tubes, and the entire island was designated as a biosphere reserve in 2002. Mt Halla, Seongsan Ilchulbong Peak, and the Geomun Oreum lava tube systems were listed as World Natural Heritage sites in 2007, and certified as a Global Geopark in 2010 making it the only place in the world to have achieved three UNESCO natural science certificates. In addition, Jeju’s unique fishing culture, ‘Jeju Haenyeo (Fisherwomen diver)’, and its ‘Chilmeoridang Yeongdeunggut Shamanic Ritual’, through which prayers are offered for the safety of the haenyeo, a prosperous year, and a large catch, have been recognized by being registered as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
A Proud Record of UNESCO Designations
UNESCO designated Jeju a Biosphere Reserve in 2002, a World Natural Heritage site in 2007, and it received Global Geopark Network certification in 2010. It is a trifecta unique in the world.
